Howdy! My name is Debbie Lee and I started 60 bugs in late 2005 after discovering a renewed interest in embroidery. "60 bugs" is also the name of a song that my son Jack wrote at about the same time. The images I started hand-stitching on things (tees, bibs, pillowcases, anything I could get my hands on, really!) were inspired by my love of music, pop culture and the 80s, and even though Jack was just 5 years old when he sang "60 bugs" for me, it had great energy and punk rock attitude and seemed to fit well with what I was doing. 60 bugs the crafty business was born! Sadly, the song of the same name is but a distant memory -- in typical 5 year old fashion, Jack refuses to sing it again. That's okay. It still rocks in my head.
I'm a stay-at-home mom who enjoys getting my craft on and working with my hands, and embroidery is a great way to keep them busy. Plus, my two young boys get to wear the kind of awesomely unique tees i'm always on the lookout for, but never seem to find. My favorite images to stitch up will probably make you laugh or flashback to high school (maybe middle school? or--EEK-- elementary school??). Some of the designs are my own, but I do love to use Sublime Stitching patterns because, well, THEY ROCK, and the designs are of the exact things I love. Why try to improve on perfection? 60 bugs is my way of sharing these cool, handcrafted designs with you and your rockin' tots. Enjoy!
